I’ve loved the Avalon: Web of Magic books since I was actually in the target demographic and a neighbor told me about "this book with a rainbow-hair girl & magic unicorn horn." A Neopets guild was my fandom gateway & my fanfiction.net profile dates to 2003, I've been around that long.Eternally grateful because this series got mini-me through some harsh times and I probably wouldn’t be a semi-alright adult without it. But if you encountered me in fan spaces before 2010... yikes, I am legitimately sorry because I was a mentally ill traumatized kid who took my feelings out on fanworks and other creators. I'm better now so shoutout to therapy, psych meds, The Good Herb, and a fictional trio of magical BFFs.Why am I still here, nearly two decades on? Well, I just... never stopped caring about Avalon. Kept thinking of the characters, bringing them with me through different stages of life. Kept getting fanfic and fan art ideas. Kept befriending and sharing headcanons with other fans. Call it nostalgia. Call it hyperfixation. Call it a coping mechanism for being stuck on this hellplanet. It makes me happy, and that's good enough for me!
